Today was dry ! well mostly so I took a quick walk from the cottage to see what was about , it was very still and there wasn’t a wave on the sea and no sign of the Seals or Otters, but it was still a great morning walk watching the gulls and Gannets
We then took a trip up to Blackwater foot and a walk along the coast to the Kings Caves. The Rock Pippets, Cormorants, Oyster Catchers and Robins followed us along the beach, out in the sea there was a small flock of Red Throated Divers hunting as well as a few Guillimots diving. We stopped for lunch and very quickly spotted a pair of Otters just off the rocks fishing in the shallows before moving onto the rocks. It was only then we realised it was a mother and a young Otter , the parent was catching flat fish and bringing them back to the young to eat on the rock.
While we watched them the weather went from sunny to torrential rain and back again, but it didn’t stop us watching them from a distance and all in all we must have spent 40 minutes just enjoying their company.
Back at Kingscross another quick walk to watch the Herons, Whimbrels and Oyster catchers. All in all a superb day once again on Arran
