06 September 2026 – Roe Deer and Barn Owl near Whitehaven

Tonight the light was hit and miss and somewhat dark, but the sun did peek though from time to time, it was very windy and so I didn’t go for my walk with much hope, Barn Owls dont like hunting in strong winds.

However, I spotted the Owl flying in the distance and made my way to a sheltered corner of the field , and luckily managed to watch him for a few minutes, before he turned and flew with the wind, over the Willow plantation and was gone.

Making my way back, I spotted a lone Roe Deer, running though the grassland, and just managed to grab a few shots as he crossed the path, had a scratch on an old post and then was gone.

Not a bad evening walk considering my hopes were low !
