Today was a mix of sun and cloud so we went for a wander through the marshes along the river to the sea. There wasn’t much to see at the start as it was midday , but as we got closer to the sea the bird life improved dramatically. On the Beach there were flocks of Grey Plover taking off, Oyster catchers and Teal flying by. Mixed in with the flocks were the odd Ringed Plover and Redshank.
Once on the estuary, we were blessed to see a flock of 30 plus Curlews on the bank side and then in flight. Ive never seen so many Curlews together in one place, and they were only in such numbers as they were arriving from the migrations.
A great day with some wonderful birds, oh and Skye loved running through the sand dunes and along the beach !
