Day Six on our trip to Arran – we managed a 7 mile walk in dry nice weather before the skies opened and the rain came.
We decided to walk up Glen Rosa today, starting at the Brodick Castle grounds, and walking back via the String road. This is a fantastic walk starting off in native woodlands following the Burn, before heading onto open moorland and up the Glen in the shadow of Goat Fell.
Today was a day of small brown birds ! but boy was there a lot of them, the woods and moorland were full of Wrens, Stonechats, Robins and Reed Buntings and they all put on a great show in the Autumn colours.
High in the Sky above Glen Rosa a Golden Eagle was flying and being bothered by a pair of Buzzards, neither of them ever came close enough for a good photo, but what a joy to be walking with them overhead and calling. Superb.
A great walk and a lovely day, cut a little short by the weather but I will defiantly be back, and would consider the higher route to be that bit closer to the Golden Eagles !
