This week the weather has been very wet, and very windy and so Ive not managed to get out much, the weather broke for a few moments last night and so I had a quick wander to see if the Hares were up and about.
At first I thought the weather had driven them all under cover, till I spotted an adult Hare take off over the fields, leaving behind one of this years Leverets. The young Hare didn’t really know what to do and just sat in the grass looking about. As I approached it slowly it started to go to ground, flattening itself int the grass trying to hide before making a break for it and running off towards its mother. You could very easily walk right past a young Hare doing this, and I wonder how many times Ive done just that?
Elsewhere the wildlife remains shy, the pond has a few Mallards on it now, and a visting Cormorant stopped by for a couple of hours but didnt linger. Fingers crossed for a few good days now and I might be able to check on the Barn Owls
