12 July 2024 : West Cumbria Wandering

A cloudy day with Sunny spells and some great birds

A dry today so I headed out to see what was about, and thought I would go to a place that often yeilds some good birds, and I wasnt disapointed ! Ten mins into looking and up I spotted a Peregrine Falcon high up on the cliffs, it flew overhead and perched on the other side of the area high up. It stayed there for 20 mins and watched the area, so I started to look around and eventually managed to spot a nest with two chicks in it. The Juviniles were close to fledging, but still had downy heads so maybe a week away from leaving the nest.

Further along the cliffs were Cormorants, Herring Gulls and Lesser Black Backed Gulls. After an hour or so watching the Falcons, decided to call it a day so headed home but not before spotting a Willow Warbler with a insect in it mouth, birding walks dont get better than this !

Everything was a long way away so not great photos today, but what a day wildlife spotting, so I dont mind the photos being poor 🙂 !
