17 -25 September 2024 : Hares, Owls and Deer

The weather over the past few days has been dryer than of late, but it seems to have been accompanied by a lack of wildlife in the local area!

The Parkside pond at home has been very quiet with a pair of Mute Swans and a few Mallards reappearing after a while away, and of course the resident Grey Heron. The fields are also empty, the martins and Swallows have now left, the Rooks, Crows and Jackdaws are also absent.

Futher afield the Hares are still doing well, with the odd Leveret about. There seems also to have been more Roe Deers out and about than normal which is great to see.

The Barn Owls are in a molt and so have been few and far between, but we have had a pair of Tawny Owls visiting every night, these of course are difficult to capture seeing as its normally pitch black when they appear. However we were lucky and one of our remote infrared cameras caught it sat on our gate, not a great image but lovely to see.
