Today was the first day home after our Arran Trip so I took a walk out at sunset to the local patch near to Whitehaven so see if the Barn Owl was out. It seemed very quiet with nothing much about save for a fleeting visit from a Sparrow hawk, so I turned around and walked back only to almost be hit in the face by a Barn Owl flying very low along the path.
It looks like the last of this years young Owls from the local nest, and I think it was just getting used to flying on its own.
