The weather cleared as the day went on so I took a quick wander in the evening to see if the Barn Owls were flying. I watched the male leave the nest and then promptly disappear. I spent an hour trying to find where he was hunting with no joy at all. After another hour and 8000 steps I gave up and figured he must have gone back to the nest while I was wasn’t looking, so I headed back to the car.
Just as I was about to drive off, I spotted him , sat on a post under some Hawthorns, exactly where I saw him disappear 2 hours ago ! I good reminder as to just how well disguised these birds can be when not moving. I managed to sneak a little closer before he flew off in to the distance.
