A bright,clear day and so I took a short 20 min walk to see what was around. There were plenty of Willow Warblers flitting about with juveniles looking for Mum to still feed them, an unidentified caterpillar was crossing the path and more exciting , the Barn Owl was back.
I had almost given up checking the old nest site that they used last year to fledge four young Owls, but I took a quick glance and was lucky enough to see mum roosting in the old spot, she flew out and back and then seemed to settle. The sun was now bright and it looked unlikely that she would fly again , and work was calling so I called it a day and left. I will however be back to check up and see if there is any evidence of chicks.
