23 September 2025 : Day four of our Arran adventure

The day dawned a little overcast but dry and forecast to improve so we decided to head over to a place called Blackwaterfoot. This is on the East coast of the island and a good place to see wildlife, but as we are a little limited on our walks due to the puppy, this looked good for a walk along the beach to see what was about.

We scoured the sea for Otters, but sadly didn’t find any today, we did however spot a few Seals bobbing about in the sea as we ate our lunch from the local bakery. Along the beach we spotted Shags, Cormorants, lots of Rock Pipits, Oyster catchers and Curlews. Far out at sea we could see the Gannets dive bombing the water for food.

We drove back to the West side of the island over a road called the string, not exactly through the mountains but still fairly high, we looked out for Eagles but after a brief false alarm all we found was a Buzzard !

Back in Brodick we returned to the castle grounds where we were lucky enough to watch 5 Red Squirrels hunting for food in the woods and then while we had our supper overlooking the sea at Corrie we spotted a pod of Common Dolphins jumping out of the water far off land. All in all a great day.
