Today dawned with glorious sunshine, and started with a trip to the beach to see what was about. There was all the usual suspects in terms of birdlife but the sky was the real star making everything look great in silhouette, even the Highland cattle on the way back looked to be enjoying the sunshine.
We were staying close to home today rather than driving too far, and so we took a walk around Kingscross and over the Point. Stunning weather and some great sea birds, but for me the best bit was finding the point, its where the main sea enters the waters of Lamlash bay, sheltered by the Holy Isle and so it should be a great place to come to early in the morning as it provides shelter for I’m hoping – Otters !
The afternoon was a trip to Lamlash for a walk along the bay, where Redshanks were playing on the rocks and Herons hunting in the Shallows, surprisingly on the pier we spotted a Parrot flying. It turned out not to be an escapee but a pet of a chap who was out in his boat. The Monk Parrot was called Aspirin and went everywhere with him flying free, he said it was free to leave whenever it wanted to but chose not too. I’m not a fan of pet birds or birds in cages, but this seemed the best way if you were going to have one, and certainly not something you see everyday.
