After finding Kingscross point yesterday, I was up at first light and Skye and I headed there to see if there were indeed any Otters about.
We found a spot and sat quietly and in no time at all I spotted an Otter swimming out of the bay and round the point, as I moved to get a better view I spotted another running over the rocks and jumping into the water to join its friend, they both dived and were gone. What a great start to the day, not one but two Arran Otters.
We headed home with a spring in our step before going for a walk to the local waterfalls and some chambered cairns called the Giants Gravestones. A lovely walk up the stream to the falls with Wrens flitting about and Buzzards in the sky, but little else in terms of wildlife due to the heavy covering of Scots Pines in the woodland.
Back home in the sun as dusk was coming we once again walked to the point hoping but not expecting to see the Otters again as the light failed. There were no Otters this time but there was some Gannets putting on a great display, a heron fishing on the shoreline and a lone Harbour Seal making its way out to sea.
A perfect end to a great day and wonderful weather. Tomorrow is due to be a wet day, so I might not get out at dawn, we will see, but I will defiantly be heading back to the point before we leave to see if I can see the Otters once again .
