27 Nov 2024 : Otters, Owls and Mallards !

A nice cold and crisp morning to start the day and so I took a trip a mile or so to a local lake, and as soon as I arrived the sun was rising bright orange and a lone female Otter was hunting eels at the side of the lake. Half the lake was in mist and darkness and half was bright firey red, so it made for some interesting images into the light.

The Otter happily spent 20 mins or so fishing and catching a good number of Eels and eating them on the go in the water. The Mallards and Mute Swans are now so used to the Otter that the flew and swam around her as if she wasnt there, a great way to start the day before work.

At the other end of the day I managed to catch a quick view of the Barn Owl hunting before she flew too far to be seen, and when I returned home the two Mute Swans that have been missing from the pond for a month now had returned back , a perfect end to a good day.
