This morning dawned cold and frosty but with the sky looking clear so I had a quick trip out to see if the Barn Owls were up and about. I arrived before the sun was up and in the gloom two Owls were out and about hunting, both going back to the Barn just as the bright sun got above the fell tops ! Despite the light it was great to see them hunting and I will try later to see if they are out at dusk.
With the Owls sleeping I headed back and stopped to watch a young Roe Deer through he willows, a flock of Redwings, and then on the Pond some Mallards and Mute swan reflected in the morning light. A very early start but defiantly worth it.
