The sun finally came out tonight and so I went to check on the Barn Owls, hoping to see some sign the eggs had hatched. No sign of that, but the male was out by the nest and after 10 minutes started hunting. Unlike most owls this one doesn’t seem to like quartering in one are, and instead flits from one field to another quickly. I watched him take two voles back to the female before he caught a third, ate it and went back to roost.
I will continue to watch when the weather allows, Barn Owls don’t venture out in the rain so fingers crossed for both hatching and good weather.
