7 October 2024 : At home at Parkside, Cumbria

Today was wet and grey until 5pm when the clouds lifted and the sun came out, so making the most of it I went for a wander around the fields to see what as about.

On the pond we had the pair of Mute Swans that have been resident on and off for a month now, a dozen or so Mallards and three Teal. Earlier today we also saw a dozen or so House Martins appear and feed over the pond, our Martins left over a month ago, so Ive no idea where these visiting one came from ?

The garden was busy too and as soon as the sun came out, the Goldfinches appeared in numbers and a Chiffchaff was busy feeding in the Rowan tree. All too quickly the sun set and that was it for today.
