Took a quick wander tonight to see if anything was about, the day had been sunny but it had turned windy and grey and so I was hoping a Barn Owl would be out hunting to avoid the rain and I was right !
The male came out from the barn and immediately dropped on prey in the field, he stayed there for five minutes eating before taking off an resuming the hunt. He flew the length and breadth of the field for a good 20 minutes, never very close but not so far I couldn’t watch him. Eventually he dropped on a mouse and took it right back to the barn for the female who I hope is sitting on eggs.
Right away after the rain came and that was it for the night, very glad I vented out!
