After my early morning walk and some breakfast we headed off to walk around the coast from Kingscross point to Lamlash. The path takes you along the shores of the bay on a duckboard path and on the shoreline. Along the route we were treated to Willow Warblers and Wrens in the woods, Grey Heron, Mute Swans, Diving Gannets, Curlews, Sandpiper and Oyster catchers on the beach. As we approached the village a small flock of a dozen or so Eider Ducks appeared mixed into a group of Guillemot’s which was great to see.
Almost everything today had food in their beaks ! this morning it was Terns with Fish, this afternoon it was Grey Herons with fish and Edier Ducks with seaweed!
In the evening I took a stroll to Kingcross point to see if the Otter was out, he wasn’t there but there was a group of 100 or so Gannets diving for fish all along the coast, and many of these were being followed by Sandwich terns, one of which surprise surprise flew by with a fish in its Beak ! There were a few more Eider ducks here as well, lots of Cormorant and Shags and evening a passing Buzzard. After an hour or so I headed back to the cottage and was treated to a magnificent Hare stood on the path with the sunlight thing on his ears! A great way to finish and wonderful day
