08 August 2026 – Barn Owl at dusk

Tonight just as the cloud was starting to gather and the light fading we headed up to an area of heathland next to the coast that we hadn’t explored before but we had heard that there was some good wildlife to be seen.

As soon as we arrived we spotted a Barn Owl flying in the distance but away from us, so we wandered along the path looking at Curlews, Meadow Pipits and Goldfinches, keeping one eye out for the Owl and another on the Sea in case there were any Dolphins .

On the way back we realised the Owl had doubled back on us and was now hunting in the fields, but this time he turned and flew passed us giving us a good looking at, before returning to the hunt. A minute later he landed on a meadow Vole, and flew off with it back to the farm and barns .

A lovely spot and one I will defiantly be returning to . As always click the small images to see the larger
