Day Five of our Arran Autumn Trip and the day dawned Sunny with a few clouds in an otherwise blue sky
I took an early morning trip to the beach again to see if the Otter was out and about, but sadly no sign, just a glorious sunrise , so not a wasted walk at all .
We then took off on a drive to the North, via the String road. At Lochranza the rain came, and just as quick it was gone. We got a little wet but it didn’t stop us spending an hour and a half watching the Red Deer. The stags were all around, calling and protected their Does, there was plenty of showing off and chasing each other but we didn’t see any of them actually fighting. The odd Stag did show signs of battle but today they seemed content to just shout and avoid conflict.
We took a long drive back, checking out a few different locations, looking for the hard to find Golden Eagles, at our last stop of the day we found one, it was a long way away and we watched it being mobbed by a Kestrel. Although never coming close it was superb to sit and watch these huge birds above us, and I did manage to grab a couple of photos from afar.
No Otters today , but Eagles and Stags more than made up for that !
