10 & 11 th Jan 2025 : Short Eared Owls and a single Roe Deer

The bright, cold sunny weather was set to finish after the weekend so I made the most of it and had a couple of trips out looking for Owls and wildlife. The Barn Owls at Frizzington were not playing ball and so I headed on over to Workington, and I’m very glad I did. Last week I found that there were two Owls in the same location, however, it was very hard to prove as they were found far apart and not together. Today however, they appeared together at the South end of the cliffs, they had a brief tussle, fighting with each other, before they headed off along the coast together, they were a long way away, but I managed a couple of poor shots that shows them together.

Sadly other than the Short Eared Owls there wasn’t much else about, the Cormorants were still flying along the cliff tops and the Kestrels were feeding high above, and a lone Roe Deer wandered past. The weather looks to turn grey on Monday, but fingers crossed there will be some sunny spells to get out and check on the local area.
