I was heading down to the M6 today and so I decided to pop into Leighton Moss to see what was about. The weather was warm but a mixture of blue sky and grey cloud but dry so I wandered around for an hour or so.
I started on the Causeway path where the Reed Buntings were out in force and the elusive Goldcreasts in the trees above. On the lake the Cormorants were drying their wings, the mute Swans flying overhead and the Shoveler duck and Tufted duck in good numbers, joined by at least two Grey Herons.
Over on the main reserve the main lake was awash with Black Headed Gulls, Teal , Pochard, Shoveler and the odd nesting Oyster catcher, while down at the Grisedale hide at least six Marsh Harriers were flying in the distance but not close for any great shots.
This being Easter week the reserve was starting to get busy so I grabbed a coffee and called it a day, but it was a great start to the day and ,Ade the M6 a little more bearable !
