May 05 : Watchtree nature reserve near Carlisle, West Cumbria
A dark, grey day, but no rain so we had a quick trip around the Nature reserve near Carlisle. The reserve is on an old airfield, which now holds a windfarm and nature reserve. There wasn’t much showing in the gloom but it was good to see lots of Skylarks about, a Red Kite flying high above, Pied Wagtails, Canada Geese and Mute Swans on the pond and lots of tits in the woods.
