May 21 & 22 Parkside,Cleator Moor, West Cumbria
An early morning walk away from Parkside and just a lone hare in the distance, returning to Parkside was greeted with the lone Mute Swan flying very low away from the pond.
Today on the pond in the pouring rain we spotted a female Gooseander with a brood of chicks, this is a first for the pond so very nice to see. It looks like there are 8 or 9 young, two on the mothers back. It was dark and pouring with rain so I couldnt get a good look, hopefully I will be able to count them properly when the rain stops
