The sun is shining in West Cumbria and so I managed to get out for a couple of hours in the evenings to see what was about. I decided to try and see if the Barn Owls were out up at the local Barn but they continue to be illusive, although they were seen out in the morning so we know they are at least safe and well.
Elsewhere Spring has sprung and love is in the air ! the Oyster Catchers and the Buzzards have both been mating, the Kestrels seem to be pairing up and the Swallows are back at Parkside, so no its just the Swifts left to arrive and we can officially call it summer 🙂
The Swallows are only in a few numbers at the moment, and it was good to see them swooping the pond for a drink, but boy are they fast and hard to photograph. The Herring Gulls are looking for nests and the Jackdaws and Crows are hoping about with sticks in their beaks and so they too must be nesting.
I’ll keep and eye out in the usual local spots and hopefully see not only the Barn Owls but also the Peregrines with mates and looking for nest sites.
